E-learning narration has one enemy, and it’s not bad audio. It’s a voice that makes the learner feel like they’re being talked at.
The best eLearning voice over sounds like a knowledgeable colleague explaining something in a hallway, not a narrator reading slides. That difference is the whole game. When learners feel like a real person is walking them through material, retention goes up. When it sounds like a recorded announcement, they click through looking for the end-of-module quiz.
What I Bring to eLearning Work
Pacing. That’s the skill that matters most in e-learning narration, and it’s not something you can fake.
I spent decades in broadcast radio, which means I learned to time content for an audience that wasn’t sitting still. You build an internal clock for when to land a thought and when to let it breathe. That clock is useful in corporate training, compliance modules, SCORM packages, and anything else where the listener has to actually absorb information and not just get through it.
I also read carefully. eLearning scripts often have technical terminology, product names, and compliance language that has to be delivered exactly right. If something in the script looks like it might have a specific pronunciation, I’ll flag it before I record.
What I Record
SCORM modules. Compliance training. Onboarding content. Product training. Software walkthroughs. Sales enablement. Customer education. Leadership development. Anything in an LMS that needs a human voice to carry it.
I work directly with instructional designers, eLearning developers, L&D teams, and the production agencies they hire. If you’re building the course, I’m recording the narration.
Tone and Style
Conversational. Warm. Patient without being slow. I aim for the tone of someone who knows the material well and isn’t in a hurry to get through it. It reads as confident without being condescending, which is the tightrope most eLearning narration falls off of.
If your course needs energy variation across modules, I can modulate across a range of tones while keeping it recognizably the same voice.
File Delivery
Delivered as clean WAV or MP3, whichever your authoring tool requires. Properly labeled, silences trimmed, consistent levels throughout. I’ve worked with Articulate Storyline, Lectora, and Rise output requirements. If your LMS has a specific spec, send it and I’ll match it.
Working Together
Most eLearning projects come with a script and a deadline. Send both through the contact page and I’ll respond with a rate and turnaround estimate. First-time projects typically include a short audition clip so you can hear the material before committing to the full module.
